About Prosthodontic Pearls

I am a prosthodontist who has been practicing in the Toronto neighborhood for more than ten years.  Over the years, my ways of practice or my philosophies have evolved through experiences.  But one thing that has not changed is my passion for dentistry.

If I am not with my family, I would constantly be thinking about my cases, how can I improve my techniques and the outcome of my work,  how can I minimize variables and risks that are not in my control and improve my patient’s experience as a whole.

Then there were many moments in my professional career where I wish someone had told me or warned me about the simple things to look out for in everyday dentistry.  I remembered that during the early years in my residency program, I was so grateful that the instructors took the time to show me and share with me their tricks of the trade.  The truth is there is so much to learn in dentistry, it’s impossible to teach everything in dental school.

This is the reason I decide to write a blog to talk about my evolving philosophies in dentistry, the mistakes I have made in the past, the revelations I have discovered.  This is definitely not evidence based dentistry but I want to be documenting these ideas and thoughts because I believe that someone out there will find them helpful.  For the experienced dentists, you may even find them entertaining.  For the novice dentists, you may find them useful and avoid repeating the mistakes I have made in the past.

These blogs are not meant as professional advice for another dental professional.  They are simply a way for me to express my thoughts and experiences as a practicing prosthodontist.  I hope you will enjoy them as much as I enjoy writing them.  Feel free to reach out to me and let me know your thoughts as well.

Obtaining jaw relation records for full arch implant therapy is nothing more than the usual steps that we do for complete dentures.  Ultimately, we have to determine where to arrange the teeth in the oral cavity that would look good aesthetically and function well occlusally for the patient.
